'Goldflame' Spiraea

Spiraea x bumalda 'Goldflame'

'Goldflame' SpiraeaFlowers:  Clusters of pinkish-red flowers in the spring with residual flowers in summer.

Size:  3-4' in height and 3-5' in width.  A low growing mounding habit that can easily be kept below 3 feet in height.

Foliage Color: Bright yellow or gold in the spring with orange-red new growth, fading to green in late summer. Very nice orange fall color.

Hardiness Zones: 4-8

Light Requirement: Full sun to part-shade

Drought Tolerance: Moderate to High.  Very low maintenance and tolerant of many soil types.

Notes:  The foliage is the selling point of 'Goldflame'.  It is attractive and changing season to season. Great plant for planting in large groups.  Some recurrent flowers in late summer and fall.  The dense mounding growth habit requires almost no pruning.  Very widely available.
