'Nearly Wild' Rose
Rosa 'Nearly Wild'
Flower Color: Rose-pink flowers that return several
times per season. Heavy flowering variety.
Size: 2-3' in height and 3-4' in width. Can grow larger without pruning. Rapid spring growth every year.
Foliage Color: Dark green. Good disease resistance, but needs full sun and good air movement or it will defoliate. Vigorous grower. Some leaf spot by mid-summer.
Hardiness Zones: 5-9. Vigorous grower in most areas of the US.
Light Requirement: Full Sun. Some light afternoon shade is OK.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate, prefers moist well-drained soil. Only needs additional water in extremely dry conditions.
Notes: Hybridized by Brownell and was released in 1941. This floribunda rose is sucker free and very low maintenance. Very winter hardy. Great variety for mass plantings. Re-blooms every 4-6 weeks. Some summer pruning will increase late summer and fall blooming. Newer varieties of shrub roses, like the 'Knock Out' roses have mostly replaced this variety, because of disease resistance.
