'Bonica' Rose
Rosa 'MELdomonac'
Flower Color: Medium pink double flowers that
persist all summer. Blooms best on the newest spring growth.
After the first bloom, plants can pruned to produce a second heavy
flush.
Size: 3-4' in height and 3-4' in width. Rapid growth in the spring.
Foliage Color: Dark green. Good disease resistance. Vigorous growing variety with weeping habit.
Hardiness Zones: 5-9. Performs well in most areas of the US.
Light Requirement: Full Sun to Part-Shade. More flowers and better foliage in the sun on 'Bonica' rose.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate, prefers moist well-drained soil. Some additional water in dry conditions.
Notes: Hybridized by the Meilland family and released in 1982. Voted the World's Favorite Rose in 1997. Very disease resistant, but newer varieties like 'Knock Out' are more resistant. Great variety for mass plantings. Re-blooms every 4-6 weeks. Some summer pruning will increase late summer and fall blooming.
