Chindo Viburnum

Viburnum awabuki 'Chindo'

Chindo ViburnumSize:  10-15' in height and 6-8' in width.  Fast fast growing once established.  Very dense growth habit with almost no pruning.

Foliage:  Very shiny elongated foliage with a red hue on new growth.  Evergreen with little winter leaf loss.  White flowers appear on 'Chindo' Viburnum when the plant matures.

Hardiness Zones:  7-9.  Maybe 6b with some winter injury.

Light Requirement:  Full sun to Partial-shade.  Grows amazingly well with a tight growth habit in part-shade.

Drought Tolerance:  High.  Have never watered a established 'Chindo'.

Notes: Great screening plant with very dense upright growth habit.  Very fast growing with nice foliage.  Fragrant flowers can take several years to start.  JC Raulston Arboretum selection.  Very widely available.  This plant should be near the top of anyone's list for a quick screening plant in the south.  A little slow to start, but then rapid growth.  Would not want to try and remove an established plant.
