Loropetalum sp. (Fringe-flower)
Loropetalum chinense
Size: 8-12 feet in height and 6-10 feet in
width. Works best as a screening plant. Compact arching
habit. Very fast growing.
Foliage Color and Flowers: Light green evergreen foliage and white fringe like flowers multiple times a year. Flowers are very striking against foliage. Heavier flowering than purple cultivars.
Hardiness Zones: 7-10 Semi-evergreen in colder regions.
Light Requirement: Full-Sun to Part-Shade. More flowers and fuller growth in sun.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate to High. Not a plant that needs to extra water, unless it is extremely dry.
Notes: This evergreen shrub works great as a large hedge. It can also be used as a foundation plant, but will require a lot of pruning. This is the original Loropetalum chinense. With newer green and purple cultivars available the species form of Loropetalum is seldom scene in the trade anymore. I sold some recently, and the customer thought the white Loropetalum was new. So now I say yes we have the new white Loropetalum.
