'Burgundy' Loropetalum (Fringe-flower)
Loropetalum chinense var rubrum 'Burgundy'
Size: 8-12 feet in height and 6-8 feet in width.
Can be kept smaller, but smaller growing cultivars should be used in
tighter spaces. Pruning takes away from the weeping open look that
this variety naturally has.
Foliage Color and Flowers: Reddish-purple new foliage and pink fringe like flowers multiple times a year. Some winter flowering during warm spells.
Hardiness Zones: 7-9
Light Requirement: Full-Sun to Part-Shade
Drought Tolerance: Moderate to High
Notes: This evergreen shrub works great as a large hedge. This variety reverts to white with age. The more it is pruned the faster it happens. Mine is half white and half purple and is quit nice. Very widely available.
