'Rhapsody in Pink' Crapemyrtle
Lagerstroemia indica 'Whit VIII'
Flower Color: Soft pink clusters of flowers
that persist from June until frost. Plenty of flowers even on
smaller specimens.
Size: 10-12' in height and 6-8' in width. Multi-trunk habit.
Foliage Color: Burgundy to Purplish new foliage that fades to green by late summer. Orange fall color. New spring foliage makes this plant desirable with or without flowers.
Hardiness Zones: 7-10
Light Requirement: Full sun to light shade.
Drought Tolerance: High, but additional watering during late summer months will increase flower production.
Notes: Introduced by Dr. Carl Whitcomb. Tight upright growth habit. Foliage and flower combination is very striking. Very resistant to powdery mildew. Typically grown as a multi-trunked specimen. Very widely available. 'Rhapsody in Pink' responds well to early spring pruning and fertilizing
