'Operette' Butterfly Bush
Buddleia davidii 'Courtabud'
Flower Color: Pinkish-Purple
clusters of flowers all summer long. Fragrant flowers attract
butterflies and hummingbirds.
Size: 6' in height and width. Some mid-summer pruning will help give 'Courtabud' a more dense growth habit.
Foliage: Green foliage with silver backs.
Hardiness Zones: 5-9
Light Requirement: Full sun to part-shade.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate. Some additional water in the summer will help increase flowering
Notes: I took this photo at the JC Raulston Arboretum. There is literature that says this variety is dark purple, but I have seen it twice and it is pinkish-purple. Very nice foliage and tight growth habit. Very low maintenance plant to attract butterflies to the garden. Prune in early spring to about 18".
