'Natchez' Crape Myrtle

Natchez Crape Myrtle

Flower Color: White clusters of long lasting flowers from mid-summer until fall.  'Natchez' is a prolific flowering variety.

Size:  20-25 feet in height and 15-20 feet in width.  Near perfect weeping vase shape.  Very widely used in commercial settings.

Fall Color: Orange and Red.  One of the best varieties for fall color.

Hardiness Zones: 7-9

Light Requirement: Full Sun to Part-Shade.  'Natchez' grows very large and can become a shade tree.

Drought Tolerance: High, but additional water during summer months will prolong flowering.

Notes: 'Natchez' is a US National Arboretum introduction.  Very resistant to powdery mildew.  Typically grown as a multi-trunked specimen.  Very widely available.  This variety is used in commercial projects everywhere in the south, because of its ease of care.  Pruning and slow release fertilizer in early spring.
